“Resist not evil.” — Jesus
Why?
Because whatever I think is evil is not evil.
I define evil as “the confused belief that the universe is separated into good and bad and that the bad must be defeated.”
Essentially evil is the belief in evil.
I decline to resist what I think is “evil” because whatever I think is evil is NOT evil. It’s only ever what I’m thinking and believing that is evil and that is always an innocently mistaken belief. No person, no place, no thing, no situation is ever evil.
When I resist what is NOT evil, the problem is obvious: I am opposing what is actually FOR me. And so I suffer.
“Resist not evil” just means everything will be as it should be and I can experience that one of two ways:
And which of those makes me more prone to spreading evil (the innocent mistaken belief that the universe is separated into good and bad and that the bad must be defeated)?
